Slot trenching is the process of digging narrow trenches with high pressure water, sucking up the debris as you cut the slot trench. These trenches tend to be 6 – 12 inches wide and a foot to three feet deep. Hydro excavation makes it easy and safe to install sprinkler systems, locate underground utilities, and perform similar installations without the risk of damaging previously installed systems or lines. Slot trenching is used when placing new lines within a meter of existing utilities (gas, hydro, etc.) to prevent damage to already buried lines.
